EASTER TABLESCAPE

So spring has definitely sprung here in Texas!  And as I am always looking for a reason to entertain, simply because I love to be surrounded by beautiful things, spring was definitely the scapegoat on this one, and to be more precise, Easter! Today, I am sharing my Easter brunch table for this year!

Though I love my holiday gatherings with extended family, over the past few years, I have found that I need to temper and offset that magnitude of energy throughout the year, so strategically I selected a few holidays where I would engage in more intimate gatherings and up leveled experiences. And you guessed it, Easter has taken the crown this season!

My process:

I typically start gathering my ideas for my table design a few weeks prior to the event and start bookmarking inspiration whether that be color scheme, a dish or vessel that inspires me to utilize it in a different way or even the menu.  That all happens on Instagram or Pinterest.

Once I have an idea about what look I am going for, I will then start pulling all of my centerpiece materials, dishes and the serve ware that I think I will use and set it up on a workshop table in my prep room.

My grandmother’s hobby when I was young was creating ceramics.  She crafted some beautiful pieces that quite honestly, I took for granted until a few years ago! Though my parents are the owners of many of her pieces now, I was given a few to keep on hand, one being her Easter eggs she created the year I was born! Her ceramic eggs sparked the vision for the feel of the tablescape and made an appearance in the centerpiece along with the gorgeous alabaster eggs from Williams Sonoma.

PLACE SETTINGS:

Each setting features my new favorite charger from Pier 1 Imports! I fell in love with the weathered white-washed beaded wood as soon as I saw them! Originally I was going to use a darker weaved-wood charger, but these are so much more substantial and anchors the setting, while still keeping it somewhat light and whimsical!

My dinner plates are from the Floral Meadow spring collection at Williams Sonoma. They have gorgeous spring florals printed on them with a delicate gold trim to finish, and they truly make you feel like you have been transported to a meadow in springtime. Williams Sonoma has some great finds for spring. I also used their mini bunny candy dishes and alabaster eggs as place cards! More on that below.

My lavender tablecloth and yellow embroidered dinner napkins were gifted to me from a sweet friend, but you can find similar ones here and here.

The glassware I decided to use are my absolute favorite! They are from Juliska and are a part of their Carine collection. The blue hue mimics the blue flowers in the dinner plates! I love pulling small details and repeating them in other aspects of a tablescape. These glasses feel like you are looking at a river where the sun is hitting it as it ripples. So, it brings in another element of nature, which continues to pull in the feeling of a beautiful spring day!

CENTERPIECE:

I wanted the centerpiece of the table to be simple and of course, really highlight the inspiration for the table theme! I started with using the sculptural bunnies because of course, they reminded me of something my grandmother would have made! Though not Granny’s, they can be found here (similar) and here. I just can’t get enough of the bunny with the butterfly on his nose! So precious!!

I used a cake stand to elevate one of the bunnies and bring some dimension to the center of the table! The cake stand is Juliska (a favorite!) and the exact design has been retired, but you can find a similar one here.

Because all of the porcelain bunnies are white I needed to infuse some color! This is where I used my Easter eggs and moss, to bring in another earthy element. Now, of course, you can utilize whatever you like, because it is all about your creative expression, there is no right or wrong, but I would suggest to get moss and not use Easter basket grass filler! The moss makes it look more realistic, and as it was an adult brunch I was styling for, the more realistic moss was made the better choice! You can always grab moss from your local craft store, my go-to, Hobby Lobby! Another infusion of color was the carrots that are hand crafted and oh so cute! And I mean, what bunny goes far without their carrots?!

In addition, I love the ability to use edibles to act as decor. So basically they are doing double duty! For this table I placed my favorite French pastry, macrons, which were various colors of spring, right in the little backpack of my sculptural bunny!

Curated Entertaining Notes:

I love to do place cards. There are so many ways that you can assign seating and I think that doing so allows you to elevate your guests’ experience by having a little something special waiting at their place setting. For this Easter brunch, I decided to use the candy dishes and repeat my theme of the Easter egg by placing them in the dish. Each setting had a different color and correlated to my guests’ favorite color! It is just a neat way to mix things up and a subtle ways to show your guest that you are being thoughtful! And, if by chance you are bringing friends together who have never met each other this is the perfect, yet unobtrusive way, for them to get to know each other!

There it is! How I created my Easter brunch table and how you can recreate it for yourself! What do you think? Are you ready for Easter?!
