RECIPE & VIDEO: BOURBON-BRAISED CARROTS
It's no secret I am a bourbon and whiskey girl. I love to infuse these flavors into my foods as well. It gives recipes such depth! I whipped up some Bourbon-braised carrots on the patio and they could not have been more delicious! I do have to say that this recipe is a slight departure from the very, ultra-clean recipes that you usually see pop up in the 'Curated Kitchen.' But, hey, that's perfectly fine, because what is it I always say..."everything in moderation." So grab that bourbon and a bunch of carrots and get to cooking. Let me know what you think of this one!
BOURBON-BRAISED CARROTS
INGREDIENTS // INGRÈDIENTS
1 bunch of fresh carrots (do not use baby carrots)
3/4 stick of unsalted butter
2 oz. bourbon
1/2 cup maple syrup
PREPARATION // ÈTAPES
Slice carrots into .5 inch rounds, cover with filtered water and bring to a rolling boil over medium heat
Meanwhile, in a sauté pan or large skillet, over medium heat melt the butter, maple syrup and bourbon until mixture is thickened. (If needed, make small additions to the mixture based on texture and desired amount)
Once carrots are soft (use a toothpick to check) drain the water and add carrots directly to bourbon glaze
Incorporate carrots and glaze until all carrots are evenly coated
Remove from the heat, plate and serve immediately
Enjoy...a vôtre santè
